Is It Time To Cancel The 4th of July?

Redwood City, CA: So we all complain about the woes and worries of our lives. We find fault in our government. The press has us convinced there is a 49% to 51% opinion on every subject in America. If this is true Is It Time To Cancel The 4th of July? We are coming up on the 4th of July weekend. This is a day that symbolizes the opportunity for people to be free. Free from oppression of tyrants, the separation of church and state, the right to speak freely even if your government doesn’t agree with you, the right to bear arms, the right to be tried by a group of your peers in any civil, tort, or criminal charge, the right to habeas corpus, and the right to pick our governmental officials. If we don’t like them then we can vote them out.

No other place on this plant earth affords you these rights. Even Great Britain only allows you to speak your mind once a week. And we know what happens in other countries throughout the world in regards to human rights and freedom endeavors.

So, on this day of celebration we are all about to enjoy, I wanted to remind us how important and lucky we really are. We complain and moan about the day-to-day governance of this country, but still we have it so much better off than the rest of the world. Don’t take the freedoms we have for granted or lightly. We are lucky! You may want to use another word and that is just great. Just realize we are lucky.

Who should we thank for this luck? There are many, including yourself. Who I like to thank are the ones who do what most will not. The American soldier is that person. It doesn’t matter what their job is by description. They are all the ones who allow us to have the freedoms we all enjoy everyday.

Don’t you think they need your thanks and good will? I do. Thank a soldier this great 4th of July holiday. They deserve it. Thank you all to those who serve our country.
